How bad is it hurt and in what way?
Sad to say that if skunks are considered a pest (like grey squirrels are in the UK) where you are it will be humanly dispatched if you hand it over. However if it's crippled in any way, or bleeding heavily, that's probably it's best option anyway. |
Finish it off with a ball peen hammer and bury it. Most humane way to handle it.
|
Police handle animal control here, they pick up [illegal] snakes and alligators and handle things if a persons pet gets run over or they find someone from animal control to get it. It is worth a try.

IT'S A POLCAT!! I can't believe you would want to save that things' life >_< Kill it, and bury it a long ways from your house I love animals, but come on?! A polcat shouldn't even be considered an animal. |

Just call the Police, they'll take care of it, how badly injured is it?
|
A shotgun from far away. Wear a rainsuit with rubber gloves to pick up the remains later.
|
I'm sorry but I really can't believe anyone would bother the police because of a polcat...
|
Blunt object to the head and a bigass catapult into your neighbors porch for teh lulz.
|
OK, the first thing to do is open windows media player.

and polecat often refers to weasels btw. I'd personally just leave it alone Inuka23, don't wanna get too close. probably too late to give advice now though... what happened in the end? |
Whenever there are animals in need of help near my house, my family usually tries to do our best to take care of it. We usually try to find a safe place to put the injured animal in, such as a box, and we place some food and water in with it. If the animal is something like a baby bird that had simply fallen out of it's nest we usually take care of it ourselves until it is able to fly on its own. If the animal is something that is injured, however, such as a rabbit which was attacked by a cat, we usually temporarily take care of it until we can bring the animal to a place where it can receive proper care and be nursed back to full health.
In any case, the main thing to remember when dealing with injured animals is to remain safe. |

Weasels are cute. Seriously they call them Polecats in SC? We call them by names down here and I'm deeper South than you are. Its kind of interesting how every state seems to have their own slang. |
damn... I love skunks .. they're sweet. coons as well...
heavy blood loss (flesh wound) = kill it quickly to reduce suffering.. i'd recommend an ax to the neck.. sounds grousome, but it's the fastest and most humane way within your abilities.. hitting it on the head does not ensure a quick death broken legs can be dealt with, although since you are posting on this forum about this i wouldn't trust you to figure out how :rheart: |

It's hard to believe that anyone who likes polecats has had any experience 100ft away from them. And the OP has had to have done something with it by now.....if not, it's probably already decaying :mtongue: |

and my post was mainly meant for future reference.:rheart: |

And I wasn't just referring to you xPP |
