Drums or Electric Guitar?
Hello! I am 18 and I am very interested in learning to play a musical instrument, preferably the electric guitar or drums. However, I have a lot of pain in my hands and sometimes my arms, possibly tendinitis. Which instrument would be easier for me to play? Please help me! :rheart:

The Moog Taurus, you play it, with your feet...
|
If your pain gets worse with intricate movements of your fingers I wouldn't recommended playing the guitar. Besides, everyone plays the guitar.
|
But not everyone plays the guitar well.
But yeah, guitar might not be the best bet. Why don't you try something a little bit easier on the hands. |
How about cowbell? If not, just stick to drums because it's simpler.

I get Carpel Tunnel Syndrome like no ones business, I had to stop playing drums because it kept giving me CTS. But it might've been the way my teacher was making me hold the sticks.
Personally I think drums are probably easier on a person than a guitar. |
LOL at Moog Taurus! :D
Hmm . . . well it is sounding like neither is good for me . . . which do you think I could play the longest at one time with little pain? I doubt I'll actually join a band as a guitarist or drummer, so it'll really be more for fun. And thanks to all of you for the help! :rheart: |
I think the drums. Like stated guitar is pretty intricate, but if you just want to play simple tunes I don't think it should be too bad.
I'd head to a music store and try them both out and see which one feels better. |
A guitar may not be good for your tendins or w/e....but, it may be just what you need. That movement could strengthen you enough to stop the pain......drums are very irritating, lots of motor skills required.
