Of course you'd say that since you've obviously experienced it before >____> Nobody cares that you're one of Nan's concubines.

I experienced it on my own accord thank you very much.

I cannot make any decisions about the mere Forum as it is. I only run the music section.

And what is that supposed to mean? I got no pimp hand.

I mean, just clean them out or something....? I DUNNO.

But the pimp hand thing was just a metaphor for using the power of the Modness.

Oh.. sorry.. But I'm not gonna just delete them.
I asked the head admin to please provide both Claire and I with full moderation abilities for the entire forum... as it'd be more helpful to the others. Until he gives that - I cannot move it.

ozkai 12-12-2009 12:59 AM

I think Clairebare is doing a fantastic job, and would vote for Nagoyankee hands down as a new recruit:)

I agree..

A mix of Goth style mods who have a way with women, a senior Japanese national, and a sexy current mod with plenty of SPEEDO pics would be a perfect mix:mtongue:

Of course, a good sense of humour is also a must and all the above have proven thesleves tiressly;)

Okay guys. Please stay on track. This is a thread about what the term moderator should mean... not about WHO you think should be promoted next.

I understand it is sometimes difficult for moderators not to get to involved, but I believe if they do, it can lead to a false sense of moderation security for other members.
A moderator should mean:
  • Sense of humour
  • Fun
  • Ability to remain neautral and not get involved
  • Ability to not let their personal feelings intimidate them or other users
  • Ability not to encourage problems between members
  • Ability to keep things happy, fun and lively with a pinch of salt in all directions
Did I miss anything;)

Are you kidding? Every forum (that I'm aware of) has a bandwidth limit, if JF left inactive threads and duplicates there, JF would fill up the bandwidth and we'd be trash, until we just restarted everything. Those threads have to be deleted, to keep JF organized, clean, and to keep from having our server over encumbered.

It's not cherry picking, it's just getting rid of unnecessary threads.

Nonsense. Bandwidth is used only when a page is opened. If the posts are inactive for the moment they won't use any bandwidth. Search Engine bots use VERY low bandwidth, almost unnoticeable. JF organizes itself, not by others. I'm against removing old threads, keep them for reference or if someone wants to read them. I check old threads ond ifferent forums and it would be really disturbing to not find one (has happened here).

I've been in forums without mods. There's no chaos at all. Google 'SGCafe', if you doubt me.

You weren't around when we literally did have NO active mods. Kanji came online every few months or so, but all the other mods were gone...it was absolute chaos. JF was a mess.

I dunno if I was around when that happened, but I definitely remember this forum going to complete HELL. It was NOT fun.

I honestly think moderators on a forum like this is appropriate. We have a lot of youthful, young people on this forum, and some of us just don't have the maturity level to handle someone's comments sometimes, myself included.

komitsuki 12-12-2009 01:09 PM

You know, the mods could do a better job.

I was literally harassed by ozkai several months ago. Not to mention many members were harassed by Ronin4hire for quite a long time.

The mods here could prevented a lot of abusive incidents in the past, but they were too lazy.

Eureka77 12-12-2009 01:29 PM

Can anyone be a mod?

If so... then how?

Actually, that's your side of the story.

Moderators have to take all discussions into account and whilst you may think that you are the only one experiencing problems, their are many going on.

A few cat fight's today, and I was perplexed as to what they were even all about..

I remember you telling me about your mother in a PM;)

That's very interesting..

I couldn't imagine a forum without a moderator.

Kanji used to be the ONLY moderator with access to moderate all subforums. Back then I only had the ability to mod the music section (as always) and I couldn't help him out at all. It sucked, but I'm glad we're more now. It takes the pressure off of Kanji a bit.

At the end, it was you who got penalized by the mods (esp. Kanji). Not me.

According to Nyororin, ozkai also got the profile infraction. (from the PM discussion, 06-29-2009, 09:29 AM)

Lesson: there should be efficient ways to prevent abuses in this forum.

You were pmed and given a warning and infraction (ie. Brought up with the other mods). :) Not surprised you don`t remember it, as it was 6 months ago.

But... Somehow I do not think this is the place to be discussing it.

Komitsuki, we all know you keep VERY strong grudges. And you have been told MANY times why certain action is and isn`t taken. It looks to me like you`re seeking to start a fight about it - and this is NOT the place to do so.

One efficient way could be 'not taking everything so personally'. It's a long time ago, man. Let it go.
