Will my BlackBerry work in Japan?

I'm in the States. Provider is Verizon.
BlackBerry 9360 Tour
I'm not sure which frequency the States use. (CDMA, GSM, ect.)

My phone is considered a "World Phone" which I'm assuming can be used world wide.

I don't know crap about phones. Anyone know?

Japan uses a nationwide 3G network, so your phone will have to be 3G capable to operate here. You will have to contact Verizon and see if they have a partner provider in Japan. In my case AT&T is a partner with Docomo, so my AT&T 3G phone worked in Japan, and my Docomo phone works in America.

That's awesome.
So basically I need to purchase a 3G capable phone (iPhone?) to use it in Japan?

What if there's no partner provider?

(Btw, you're using a DoCoMo phone here in the states? Americans think their Android phones are the bees knees till they see one of those DoCoMo bad boys. Droids ain't got nuttin' on those I bet.)

EDIT: And thanks for the response、my friend.

I assume you're talking about BlackBerry 9630 Tour, if that's the one than this link explains everything about it:
BlackBerry Tour 9630 - Full phone specifications

And yes, its a 3G capable phone (3.5 G from what i know), and as long as your provider offers coverage on the network there it will work.

I don't know about the particular model, but a buddy of mine still uses his blackberry here in Tokyo. All he said he did was buy some international plan. He uses is to BBM all the time with friends back home. So it is at least possible.

If you come to Japan you can use your iPhone, it will operate on the Docomo network. Make sure to subscribe to an international plan before coming, the roaming and data rates can be kind of crazy otherwise. Oddly enough, when I use a Docomo phone in the states my phones displays the "Cingular" logo instead of AT&T.
