Subway sign.
1 Attachment(s)
Can someone please settle an argument that I'm having with my girlfriend?
Can someone who is Japanese or has been living in Japan please look at the attachment picture of a Japanese subway sign and tell me what each of the pictures mean? I appreciate that this might seem relatively simple, however I would be very grateful if you could explain it as easily as possible. Thanks in advance. |
I am not sure I understand the question. What are you arguing about?
From left to right, these seats are reserved for Elderly, Injured, People with babies, Pregnant women, People with heart conditions |
What the dispute was about.
My girlfriend said that the last one (with the heart) was for people who had broken hearts. i.e. they has just been dumped or something. I said that it meant that people with heart conditions or some form of illness would get priority for the seats.

Showed this thread to my friend his answer was perfect, and I quote
"Give up your seats for emos!" :D On a more serious note, I would have guessed it meant people with pacemakers or similar, so yeah heart conditions. Although it would also be nice if people gave up a seat for someone feeling emotional! :mtongue: *edit* I find this poster MOST RELEVANT. ![]() |

You often see signs near the priority seat one asking people to turn off their phones if they're sat close to them as well as give up a seat. Apparently some mobile phone frequencies can screw around with some pacemakers. 8/ |

Not everything you read (I suppose that's your source?) is actually true concerning emos. Unless you've seen some committing suicide, or being a depressive mania, or even being with one to have a general idea about the sub-culture, I don't really think you should label them that. Emo means emotional - It doesn't necessarily mean depressive. Happiness is an emotion. But yeah, I wouldn't give them a sit. Edit: I'm not an emo, but I have plenty of friends who are. |

What with the generally high rate of stress amongst Japanese working people. and their using the train a lot. 8/ But I can see how you jumped to that. |

Not that I'm the protector of emos, it's just that I know a lot of good people who are emo. |
looks like 5 people who claim benifits to me :P
