NEED HELP with Tattoo
 

Hey there

many years ago i did let me make a tattoo.. these last days i did find out that it does not mean what i tought it would..

Can anybody tell me what it means? =)

殄 means extermination or, annihilation

maybe it could be fish soup in china? i'm not sure tho. some kanji characters can have different meanings in Japan and China.

it means to exterminate in Chinese.
In Japanese it is also a reference to "all" or "completely".

殄滅

means total annihilation

It seems to me 殄 means the "total" part and 滅 means the annihilation part.

Just out of curiosity, what did they tell you it means?

MMM is right! 殄滅 to be exact when it's translated as annihilation.

This is typical Japanese way to combining two kanji characters of similar meaning to make words. Just like 温暖、寒冷、喧騒、静寂　and so on
