Samurai today

Hello, I'm s slovene student and I am working on a project called Samurai today. I was asked to make a thread on a japanese forum to ask some questions about japan's history. So here I go:
Which period was the most important in Japan's history? Why?
What remained from that period (art, culture, holidays, architecture ect.)?
Like the title says, this is about connecting japan's history and present.
So please help me with this :S

I am going to say the end of the Edo (Tokugawa) period, with the event of Meiji restoration. Most of current day Japan is sculpt by various events that happened during that period.

I don't think this forum qualifies as a Japanese forum since there are so few Japanese on this forum. This is a forum about Japan. But if you want many Japanese to answer about their country, I don't know if you're going to get the response you were looking for....

I noticed that. It is fairly westernized on here.

Isn't that what the west is known for though? Westernizeing everything?

Well Japan does Japanize some things too. I suppose we all do it.

I think it would be cool if samurai came back but just never killed themselves or other people! They could have like a sword one side and a laser gun the other!

They have those...they are called "Jedi".
