Take this as a lessons learned, there are some issues around the world that not everyone should care about, but definitely nobody should joke about.
I bet this Alexandra girl will need to find a university/college that has absolutely no Asian student now.....

I would like to hear some honest opinions on this from the Americans on JF.
Has this become an issue because the girl had the guts to say what she said on Youtube? Or would this still be such a rare comment if it were made in the car or elevator, or in a dorm room with no strangers listening?

I can't speak for America, but speaking from my time in Canada, including in university, if someone said something like that I'm pretty sure most of her friends would disapprove and set her straight.
It might be said as a joke but if anyone actually meant it then the laughs would turn to concern.

I didn't know anything about this until a parody video showing just how stupid the person is appeared on Youtube. The guy is "japanarchist", a foreign resident of Japan for a few years. I understood the concept being described without even knowing the original cause.
