Is groping a woman a charitable act?

This is just strange. Is this something that I should expect in Tokyo? I am here in Tokyo on holiday now, but considering moving permanently in the fall, and as a Christian, I'm not sure I approve.

Article about groping women for charity

Do you approve everything America does too?

You'll have a very difficult time finding a place to live if approving of all the countries actions is a requirement, especially if seen from christian eyes.

tokusatsufan 08-05-2011 10:21 AM

I'm a Christian. I just see it as a bit of fun. Well I say I'm a Christian,I believe that there is something more than this life. When I went to Shinto/Buddhist temples I joined in with what they were doing. Yeah,I think as long as it's voluntary.

Just a quick heads up before the thread has a chance to go too far into dangerous territory - we do not allow religious discussion on JF.

So let us look at this as something that goes against your personal beliefs.

In my opinion, no matter what your reasons are for disagreeing for it... The best thing would be to just, well, not get involved. No matter what they are auctioning off, you do not have to participate.

There are lots of things out there in the world that I do not agree with for various reasons. My policy is to just not have anything to do with them.
Not every person in Japan, nor every charity event in Japan, has something to do with this so I find it a bit of a mystery why it would have any effect on your choice to live or not live in the country. I would even be more than willing to say that 99.9% of the Japanese population has no clue there even is an auction like that.

I looked at that article, if I read it correctly with my limited knowledge with the English language, I believe this was something hosted by a Porn related company, given the ties, do you approve the pron industry?

This is not a normal practice, in fact, its FAR from a normal charity practice, and as Nyroin said, I bet that not that many people are aware of such an event.

You might want to stay out of Nevada in the USA too. Legal prostitution.

If the deciding factor whether to move to a country is based on how random but most convenient sample of the target country's people fit your moral preferences, perhaps you'd be more lucky with Nauru or Tuvalu instead.

Howard Stern has much more "immoral" contests on his radio show, and surely a mch wider audience.

This was all religious discussion. It isn't allowed here, and a warning has already been given once. Next comment is a lock. ~Misa.

Lets not go there....

As long as it's legal and all parties involved are okay with it, I say, "to each their own".... As for some, it may be the only way to 'cop a feel'.... especially the shy ones....

evanny 08-05-2011 03:08 PM

i think it is a lame idea. and i am not against it, just seems lame. i wouldn't be able to walk up on a TV set and like some loser pervert and pay my 12$ to touch a breast. if anything they will get even less money since i can't imagine many doing it.
totally comes to mind some Japanese Otaku with his anime "pillow girl" in hands walking up to them and then probably chickening out - only kind who would sign up for it.

well, then again it is just me and others are more easy going than i am about that kind of things.

Why do I sense a "lock" coming? :ywave:

funny I feel that too...

The thread should have been locked after the first post, finding some ridiculously obscure and non-representative part of a culture and turn it into slander with an attempt to back it up with religion as a moral cornerstone... the whole thing is just shit piled on shit.

I bet if you looked hard enough you'd find a groping charity in the states.. in fact I'm almost 99% sure I remember a kissing for charity event...

Sorry,I didn't expect it to go that far.

I suppose it depends what charity it's for. If it was for a third world country it'd be good, although you couldn't win then cause some people would think it would be worse.

RealJames 08-05-2011 04:57 PM

I like the way you mod Misa!!

I got in a whole huge pile of shit for censoring based on my judgment before, but you've got the right idea! :)

I forgot to give my opinion on the original question also;

If the girls are cool with it, I mean not pressured into it by work, and it's taking money away from perverts and shifting it to charity, that's killing 2 birds with one stone. (Where do you think that money would have been spent otherwise?)

Imagine the person receiving the charity knowing what paid for it, lol, that'd be awesome.

Why is that Nyo?

Isn't Religion one of the most interesting and learnable things while talking about Asia (Japan in General) and the Western World??

I answered this in a PM to you. No more on this please, rules are rules. ~Misa.

JohnBraden 08-05-2011 05:37 PM

It is off limits because of the forum rules, period. End of discussion....

GoNative 08-06-2011 02:25 AM

Because you can't have any rational discussion with nutters who believe in fairytales. Simple as that.

Nyororin 08-06-2011 05:07 AM

And... Here comes the lock.
*sigh*
