So I just watched it for the first time tonight.

Oh my god that movie was increidble.
and just blew my mind like you wouldn't believe.

all around us are familliar faces...

All the other music for that movie was total crap except that song and when I heard it I was wide eyed because of how amazing it fit in.

So much better than the origional version

It's a great movie. If you liked that, you should check out 'Next' as well. It's a bit more of an action movie. The concept is great, the leading actor can look into the future, but he can only look 2 minutes ahead. It's a wonderfull concept, and they made a great movie out of it!

in my personal opinion, that was one of the worst films i had ever see, i even watched it twice because i had heard such good reviews... but it wasnt for me

I never liked Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator and Lord of the Rings. Each his own :)

I love the movie for personally reflective reasons of the chaos, disorder and such and just the overall morose tone that was embodied. the storyline of timetravel to prevent the end of the world just so everyone else could live... yeah that's alot like something I do.

Only bunnies piss me off.

frank the bunny scares me.. although i don't think he's meant to be scary??

i did enjoy this movie though :vsign:

would recommend it to those who havn't seen it yet!

i love Jake Gyllenhaals character, he's so interesting to watch..

Actually in the movie, the point wasnt that time travel could save the world for everyone else but Donnie. It was actually about parallel universe's.
Donnie was psychotic and he died from getting crushed under a jet engine, THIS HAPPENS FIRST, but they dont tell you that. After he dies he ends up in a parallel universe but he doesnt know it and since he was psychotic when he was alive he keeps seeing people and places and events in this parallel universe, in the wrong order. Finally he figures out that he is in another universe and decides to go back to the one he died in to make sure he died but did not end up in the parallel.
And at the end how all the characters wake up and some are crying
and freaking out, its because when someone is in a parallel universe,
everyone he/she encountered is in that parallel too but they think they are just dreaming, so really they way they show the characters throughout the whole movie isnt really them, its the OPPOSITE of how they really are.
We are watching the movie through Donnies eyes.
And Frank btw; was actually Donnies sisters boyfriend and he was a tattoo
artist who was commisioned to do a tattoo of a bunny [Donnie's version of Frank]

The first time i ever watched the movie i also
thought the point was time travel,
but after a few times things didnt exactly click
with that theory. :)

I love that movie ^^ The bunny was sca-a-ary tho . Mm, that skeleton outfit was uber .!

I think it was a bit over hyped.. but then it got this from the fact that they had a problem releasing it in the Uk cos of the soundtrack copyright or something.
Sad ending me thinks.

Keep in mind that this movie is extremely complex, and there is no one theory that is correct, because the directors intention in this film was to make your own choice on what was going on. I've heard some similar theories to yours, but I don't quite like this one. My theory is a little different...It will take to long to explain, but lets suffice to say that I believe Donnie is much more than just some psychotic kid, and that the people are not opposites, they are simply not their main selves...

Great movie. My exgf made me watch it when we were dating, and I really liked it. I've only seen it once, so I never really got into theorizing about the plot (I'm more of a matrix guy), but I did really like it.

i heard a song in the radio called mad world by gary jules and michael andrew, and few years later i found out that the song originally comes from Donnie Darko, so i thought it was a singer.
So in reality its a song played in the film, right?

Mad World is a song by Tears for Fears, awesome '80s band. It just got more popular from being in the film.

It was an ok movie, just overhyped in my opinion.

I think that was a wonderful movie.

I f***ing loved Donnie Darko...creepy as hell though..

Donnie darko is one of the most pretentious pieces of steaming fresh dog turd u will ever have the misfortune to watch.

Do not ever make the mistake of giving it a go - it will rob you of your sincerety and honesty in that you will not be able to accept that you just wasted an hour and a half of your life, and so you will lie to yourself and make up hollow excuses to find some justification to the waste of the time you spent watching it. AVOID IT

I started to watch this movie on day, but didnt get the chance, but i plan on buying it soon.

I didnt get to finish, but the part were i left off has me addicted to wanting to finish it.
