dont wear jeans in japan?

hi, i have a question about when i go to japan on the 14th of february. i am going to be going with my school and one of my teachers told me that people shouldnt pack alot of jeans because people in japan like to look good? first of all i dont think jeans make you look bad lol but i was just really questioning that cause i doesnt seem practical, i mean for me im only 17 and basically all i wear and own are jeans. so if anyone has some feedback on that it would be greatly appreciated:)

If you are going to a lot of formal events, I wouldn't wear jeans...but just for site-seeing, I wouldn't worry about it.

from what i know, japans a pretty stylish place but they do wear jeans, like the rest of the world. Plus i dont think people would really care, i mean, they have things to do, work, school, i dont think they'd have time to care that much about what your wearing.

however, if you are wearing a bin bag, then the story would be VERY different.

anyways, jeans are no problem, in fact you get pretty good denim fashion designers such as evisu that are from japan. If they weren't stylish, they wouldnt be so big.

But bottom line, if the teacher says please don't wear jeans, then you probably shouldn't wear jeans.

or buy BLACK jeans, they can always look somewhat formal if you team it up the right way. ^^

and they don't look too jean-y. XD

Don't worry.

Even though I am a Japanese living in Japan, all I have is jeans like you. Jeans are very popular here. You can find a lot of stylish jeans like Ebisu (not evisu) , Edwin, or even Levies, which are only avairable in Japan such as vintage look. And, don't forget to bring heavy jackets since it is very cold in Feb. here. Enjoy your travel.

I wear jeans ALL the time. When the workplace, does not prohibit wearing jeans, its all I wear but most of the time is semi-formal to formal.

If you are going to school, they have uniforms. I seldom see High School students in jeans , they are always in their uniforms even on weekends.
Normally, jeans is pretty much a normal outfit here..

That's because they usually go to school on the weekends.

Don't listen to your teacher. Wear jeans because it is bloody cold.
