New to Japan

Hi,

I'm trying to get to Japan next year, probably durring the spring or fall. Will be visiting a few major cites Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Osaka.

But are there any other interesting places to go. (It doesn't have to be a popular tourist attraction or land mark) I'm looking for places were i could feel like I'm living in japan. (well of course or i'll be staying at a hotel and only will be there for two weeks.)

Oh, about Japanese law and maners. Is there anything that i should know.

Any peace of information will help

Thanks,
-Mike

Hey Mike. Glad to hear your plans are working out.

There's about a million threads here asking the same questions, so search around a little :)

Buy a guidebook or 2 (I recommend the Lonely Planet guide) and start reading it. You'll find out about many out of the way places you might never hear about.

Personally, I enjoyed Koya-san, Takayama/Kamikochi, and the Wakayama coast (visiting the many small towns along it) for out of the way, real-life Japan.
