First of all i would like to thank everyone for their insightful replies,

What would i like to do on the trip?
Basically ,Would like to get lots of good food into my tummy,walk around and see good ol japan like it is,Get my arse into a onsen..If possible get myself involved in a festival(if theres one happening during winter time)

Unfortunately i am not going there with a girlfriend but rather buddies of mine

And yes after seeing the replies i do believe i absolutely want to go to nara/kyoto, & osaka..So which pass would be the most beneficial for this ?

wabisata mentioned,i could play soccer over there in japan,Would that be in tokyo?and have u tried it urself before?and do i have to pay any sort of fee?Any idea what time is the best time to head down?

Of course i would be more than glad to tell u of my experience in nara if i actually get there,But may i ask why Nara would be ur favourite spot to go?

you can choose and buy them online before arriving in japan. the tourist rail passes are to be bought outside of japan.
