Another harajuku question.
In general do people mind if you take pictures of them?
|
I figured as much. thanks.
|
Just as Josh puts it, I think it's totally up to the individual. If you're going to take a picture of someone, you should ask politely first...unless it's an event or something and a bunch of other people are doing the same thing. Personally, I'd be flattered if someone took pictures of me ¦3

syashin totte ii desu ka?
learn it |
Are you kidding? They go to Harajuku to get pics taken of them! I go there about twice a month so I know. I see just about the same faces on the bridge over the railroad everytime I go there. They know very well how to pose for the pics, too.
Still, I do recommend that you ask for permission first if you want to take close-up shots, just in case... |
Yeah, i intend to ask permission, and their names. i want to write a book on Harajuku fashion.

Fashion is about getting your picture taken. If you don't like it, don't stand around all day dolled up. But ask first :3 |

If you want to use keigo (honorific) form, say "Shashin o totte yoroshii desu ka?" But, considering it's a casual, everyday event featuring a lot of young people, just use "ii." |

I got the impression it was similar guidelines to cosplayers at an anime convention - if people are clearly in costume they most likely won't mind you taking photos of them, but they'd probably prefer that you ask first so they can pose and give you a good picture :) Don't be afraid to ask though, all the people I asked to take photos of on that bridge were very obliging and nice. Apparently the cosplayers mainly come out on a Sunday though, so remember to go on the right day!
I saw more tourists in Harajuku than anywhere else I went in Japan, so I'd bet the regular cosplayers are very much used to tourists who can't speak Japanese. If you hold up your camera and just say 'okay?' they'll probably figure out what you're after. |

I guess...it tastes awesome! ¦3 Are there any Asian markets that you have access to in your area? They usually have sarsaparilla along with various other Asian style drinks. I get mine from this Ranch 99 market at this mall called Pacific East Mall in San Francisco. It's a 2 1/2 drive, and usually a planned day-long trip, so we don't go often...that's why I'm missing it so bad DX Last time I was there was...a long time ago. |
