10 days in Japan, needing advice
Hey everybody :) First post and so on..
Me and my wife are looking into a trip to Japan for roughly 10 days in late May or so. We're 27 and 24 and have never been to Japan before, but've been around South East Asia for 6 months. We're flying from Helsinki, Finland to either Osaka, Nagoya or Tokyo. I read hiragana, katakana and a few dozen kanji so it helps a bit. We're not exactly sure which city would be the best one for us, Osaka or Tokyo. We're on something of a budjet, not super duper tight but definitely not on infinite funds either. Not backpacking, that is. Things we wanna do: -shopping, I'm looking for music, movies, games, gadgets and some cool clothing. She's mostly in for the clothing :) -see a few local sights like a temple, a museum or a castle. -some theme park would be cool too. What we're looking for in a hotel (other than the obvious low fare:) -reasonably close proximity to public transportation, easy access to places. -private bathroom (she's adamant on this, so no Sakura Youth Hostel I'm afraid:) So please, anyone in the know of these things, shower me in a wealth of knowledge! Where should we stay? Thanks in advance :) |
Either choice will make for a great trip, but I would recommend Osaka only because it has not only all the things you are looking for, but you are under 25 minutes to Kobe and about an hour away from Kyoto and Nara, all of which are worthy of visits. Osaka also has Universal Studios Japan and Expoland.

I too would vote Osaka. Lots more to see and do around the Kansai area, IMHO.

Thanks! I'll start studying the Osaka area then :)
