Also would you recommend i'd get a rail pass for the subway for the 2wks im there or jus pay as i go?

Got two weeks in Thailand before I arrive so hopfully i wont be sunburnt :mtongue:

Cant wait to get over there, feeling a bit excited/nervous but a good nervous.

I would get a rail pass since it works for both the JR and the metro and you won't have to worry about where you're headed and buying the right amount ticket, or even buying a ticket each time you want to take the metro/JR. On a busy day, I use about 600 yen and to get a pass, i think the minimum is 2000 or so and you can recharge it anytime. Since you're gonna be there 2 weeks, I would pick one up, it makes traveling so much more convenient and with Tokyo so crowded, this should save you some unnecessary headaches.

well apparently a JPRail pass will cost me £285 for 14days, i doubt i would use that much money if i jus paid as i went, i mean thats nearly 2wks wages!

Depends on where you would travel to. A single ride from Tokyo to Kyoto will cost you about 90 USD. And of course all the trips on Yamanote and Narita express

It depends a lot on HOW you travel, and how far. If you use shinkansen (bullet trains) the costs add up quickly. The trade off for the $ (or whatever currency you are using) is the speed of travel. If you have time, slower trains are cheaper.

To figure out costs, try the following site to look at trips you KNOW you are going to make in that 2 weeks. You should be able to decide if the railpass is a good deal or not.
