Edo Wonderland??

I just started planning a trip to Japan for April of 2008. I read a small article about Edo Wonderland and I would like to see it. The travel agent has no information. If anybody knows anything I would really appreciate the information. Where it is, how much, and when? Thanks....

Hisgashi 02-28-2007 06:35 PM

Didn't someone say about this in Glenskis thread thing? ((Sorry that I can't help. T_T ))

fuu 02-28-2007 06:42 PM

Yeah. It was me but I didn't get any info. I Think I'll have better luck here. Thanks anyways.

From what I've seen, Edo Wonderland can be equated to a renaissance festival in the US. The people there dress and act as if they were living in the Edo Period in Japanese history. I believe it is meant to be historically educational theme park.

Apparently you can even rent Edo Period costumes and participate in the activities and/or take classes. It seems pretty cool.

yes you can walk around in edo costumes.. prices range from the cheapest of 3000yen to 10,000++ .. and there is no time limit. You can wear the costume until 4pm ( when the store closes ). You can meet some samurai, ninja, jubei and other cool characters. It is pretty pretty cool.. if you love the Japanese culture, this is a must place to go. Children and adult alike would love the place :rheart:

fuu 05-07-2007 06:40 PM

My friend and I are definetly going to Edo Wonderland.....I think it is the place I am most excited about seeing........

and Kira you'll have to pay your own way lol

samokan 05-11-2007 02:31 AM

here are some photos ( finally was able to upload it ).

My cousin, friend and I opted to dress up as a princess. It cost us 10,000yen for the costume :vsign:

fuu 05-11-2007 11:13 AM

Thank you very much for the pictures!!

It looks like so much fun. Those costumes were amazing. I loved the pic of you three princesses and the ninja! Again thanks so much for posting them. I can hardly wait to go myself!

samokan 05-12-2007 11:34 AM

it was really fun fuu-chan , but beware that wig is so heavy.. it really hurts after awhile. and the dress is hot. so if you are going on august, i think it would be best if you rent the yukatta ( summer kimono ) and then there is studio there, and for 2000yen you can have you picture taken with whatever costume you like. I did the princess costume again, and my friend did the shinsengumi. We added another 1000yen, each so that we can have our pic taken together. So we paid 3000, and we receive a solo pic, and out pic together. :D

fuu 05-17-2007 01:01 PM

I can handle the costumes.....My friend is constantly dressing me up with wigs and stuff for anime conventions....I'm going in April so I think the weather should be nice.

samokan 05-17-2007 02:13 PM

well i dont know what kind of wigs are those, but that wig is lace out with metal underneath to keep its form thats why its so heavy. I dont know how heavy , i think its more than a ton :D .. ok just kidding , but maybe its more than a kilo ..

but yeah, if you go in april then its very nice. maybe you can take pic under a sakura tree , now that would be soo cool :D

fuu 05-17-2007 03:43 PM

We' decided to go in April just for that reason:D Metal underneath in the wig.....omg!!!!! I've never had one with metal, no wonder it was so heavy. It still looked amazing though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
