"Temporary Visitor" status?

I'm confused about the "Temporary Visitor" status needed to obtain a Rail Pass while in Japan.

https://www.japanforyou.com/index.ph...rail-pass.html states that "Temporary Visitor" status is for people staying 15 or 90 days in Japan. Does this mean you are given a different status if staying less than 15 days?

No, if you are in Japan and not on any other visa, you should be under temporary visitor regardless of the length of stay.

Remember you must purchase the rail pass outside of Japan, it should be mailed to you, then bring it with you to Japan. Go to a JR station, show them your passport, and they should validate the pass.

Even if you stay for just a single day - the shortest visa you will be issued is for 15 days. It indicates the length of the time you are allowed to stay on that visa... Not the actual amount of time you do stay.

I understand. Thanks for clearing that up!
