Running and doing sports in Japan

Hello everyone!

I've been reading here for a few days, now it's time to write something too. :)

My boyfriend and I will be going to Japan in about 3 weeks. A while ago, I tried to google for Japan/Tokyo and runs (running competitions), but didn't find anything. We'll be in Tokyo from 23 to 30 Sept and then again from around 11 to 17 Oct (and in Kyoto, Osaka and other places in between).

Is someone here interested in running and/or knows about a good run that it's not too late to sign up for? Would be so much fun to participate in a Japanese run :D

Also, do you know about some good sports to try out while in Japan (except all those martial arts)? A hotel with a good gym? Some nice/crazy places to do sports at?

Waiting impatiently :)

There are many running competitions in Autumn. But,too late to sign up for.
Around Koukyo (Imperial Palace) and Yoyogi park are famous running courses in Tokyo.
If your question is more specific, someone might help you.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I read on a running site that the areas around Imperial Palace and Yoyogi park are good for running, so we will try that.

I don't know how to be more specific than I've already been, but yeah, it hit me that maybe it's too late to sign up... But if anyone knows about a run between 11 and 17 October that's still open for signing up, please let me know! Thanks. :)

I mean "some good sports to try out while in Japan (except all those martial arts)" is a little vague.
Kind,Where,When....
And traditional Japanese sports are all martial arts.

By the way,do you understand Japanese? Are you enough fluent to sign up in Japanese?I found some webpages, but all in Japanese.
