Japan in June

Hello guys!

Since me and princessmarisa are jetting off to Japan in June, (well technically May 31st) I wondered what kind of things happen in June?

What is the weather and climate like? I heard it's rainy season, but it's generally not too bad and the rain is more 'light and pleasant' and the air is warm. That's what I found from my research anyway.

I wondered if there was anything June-specific, like a festival or some super awesome one time experience sort of thing if you get my meaning.

Also, give me your top 3 places to visit in Japan!

For the record, we'll be in Osaka for a week and then on to Tokyo for a week. :3

1. Kyoto
2. Tokyo
3. Nikko

I can't say anything about June in Japan other than Aomori-ken is beautiful in June.... spent 2 Junes there....

I went to Tokyo in mid-March and early October and the weather was fantastic, rain-less....save for a day each trip!

Thanks for your input!

My Japanese teacher is from Aomori. She said it's famous for apples.

I'm going to Tokyo in June too. Maybe we could meet up? I bet if I have two girls with me it would be a lot easier to get into one of the more trendy nightclubs, and even find a girl to be with.

Haha, as long as you don't drag us to the prostitute lairs! :D We will be in Osaka for the first week, Tokyo the next. When are you going?

I'll arrive in Tokyo 31st of May, and leave June 9th.

My first days will be spent visiting the more famous places: Shibuya, Akihabara, Shinjuku (I'll be living there), Roppongi, and Kabukicho. I'll also try to visit Odaiba, and the Tsukiji fish market which is the biggest in the world if I can get up early enough (you have to be there like 5 in the morning to see the auction).

The remaining days if I have any, will be spent at clubs and places where I can get to know people.

You should visit Wikitravel.org to find places to see and things to do in Tokyo.

Top 3 will be difficult for me to choose.... For June, i will choose:

Hokkaido: - Because the shrine festival is in June.. one of the largest ever.. lots of street food/merchandise/performance
Osaka
Kyoto

I think tokyo is a must too, since most people think Tokyo = Japan.... but do spend a day or 2 in Yokohama... you won't regret it

Osaka has tons of personality. The great little bars in America Mura...stop by and say Hi to the 2 lady owners at Pamper, so much fun. A week in Osaka is a pretty long time I would recommend popping over to Kyoto for 2 days at the min and Nara for like a day trip (both are like 600y to go to)

Tokyo a week should be pretty sufficient. I hated Roppongi and Kabukicho, the South Africans were annoying and being in Japan I wanted to avoid the gaijin strongholds and the Japanese women who flock to them. If going to Japan to hang out with foreigners is your thing than Roppongi and Azabu juban are the spots.

As another said Yokohama is a great place, less than an hour train out of Tokyo, MM21 is super cool. When I go back I am going to allot more time for it the China town is the biggest in Japan.

Kamakura is another great stop out of Tokyo, just over an hour, lots of nature and hiking on your way to the great Daibutsu.

Agree to everything you said.... you know which area I also hate? Ebisu... It seems to me that all the foreign worker live in that area......

Another suggestion while you are in Osaka, take a day trip to Kobe... not much to see, more of a "I;ve been there" type thing.... There are a few interesting sites by the port for pictures and souvenirs though...
