You will see some ads and decor..... Chrismas decor is very nice there, for country that are mostly non Christian/Catholic, its one of the better decorated place..... it has more decor than most places in Toronto....

I was there in early October last year and the 7-elevens already had their Christmas food catalogs out.... And believe me, they bear no resemblance to most 7-elevens one may be used to in the States....

I'm not convinced about spending Christmas in Japan. When I went on holiday my tour guide said that kids have to school on Christmas Day,can't remember if it was just the morning. Even if it's my only overseas holiday in the year,I think I have to have a British Christmas or otherwise it'd do my head in. I could always make myself an advent calendar out of squares of chocolate.

I can do Pancake Day in Japan, that's easy. Maybe if I go on holiday in the Summer do Easter then.

Christmas is mostly a shopping thing in Japan. They just take the retail aspect of the holiday and go with that without getting into the religious portion. That kids have to go to school that day doesn't surprise me.

Christmas is Japan is actually Valentines Day :rheart: . It is mostly concentrated on couples going out to a romantic dinner on Christmas eve. Then the next day it is back to work :p

But yes, lovely decorations everywhere but to me it does not have the warmth of Christmas that I am used to.
