Steps to being a Manga-ka
1. Learn Japanese fluently! 2. Stop drawing anime style! Learn realism, human anatomy, depth, perspective, and all that hard stuff that you didn't think applied to manga. 3. Practice. 4. Until you bleed. 5. Do you have human anatomoy down yet? 6. Don't think so. 7. Okay. Now? 8. When you do, you'll probably reconsider. |

The word "manga" is grossly abused by all these people who just so happen to draw Japanese-style...
Bottom line, Manga is just the Japanese word for Comic... Calling yourself a Manga artist if your American is extremely pretentious. But to stick up for the idea, Tekkon Kinkreet was an awesome anime out of Japan that was directed by an American (Micheal Arias). The whole crew was Japanese though ![]() |

Like many others here, I want to be a mangaka too. That would be great.

I do and dont, it all depends on how things work out for me. :/

That's a crazy dream I have too~
But making a comic isn't just about drawing the characters, you have to take time into making the whole story and how this goes into this, develop your characters nicely and make sure you have proper materials for your comics. You don't just make the manga either, there is also making illustrations for things like magazines or art books. ^^ I myself to improve have taken art classes at Ringling College of Art and Design, I really learn from them. I also draw pretty much anytime I can. : 3 Do your best everyone! |
