Water nourishes life, and lack of it takes it away. It is the beginning and end of all things. The list goes on.

Not everything in Asia has to be so deep. It also stands for 水商売 (Mizu shōbai) or "the water trade" which is associated with hostess bars and cabarets.

I understood it, but that was just the first thing that came to my mind.

Hopefully that's not everyone's first thoughts when they see it, heh ^-^

I guess that's the risk you take when you get a tattoo like that.

Of course :) That way, I guess it also can show how to not judge anyone before you get to know them

MMM, i know what it means.

空 is known as sky yet it also means the void. Similar to 無. I was talking to my wife's friend, she is Japanese, and we were discussing some calligraphy texts. She said that 無 has a negative meaning for her, yet she has changed her mind after I explained her what it means in Zen philosophy. Absolute nothingness as in absence of distortion and desires clouding our view.

For you 水 is hostess clubs, and for me it is a fantastic cosmic force.

I hope you didn't think I was judging you, I was just saying that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it.

But that is one of the many reasons I don't have tattoos.

No, I didn't think you were either ^^ Luckily, everyone is entitled their own opinion regardless, so no prob^^ It's my first time hearing about that term anyway, so it seems I've learned a lot of new stuff today :)
