female yakuza??
would this be considered a female yakuza style?
![]() |
Traditionally there are no female yakuza...looks like traditional Japanese/goth to me.
|
what an awkward thread.
|
And if there really were female yakuza, I don't think they'd look like that.
|
There are Yakuza women, rare, but not non-existant.
Most never get to any serior status i.e. become an onee-san. In the early 80's the Kumicho of the Yamaguchi-gumi clan Kazuo Taoka was assassinated. And for a short time his wife, Fumiko Taoka acted as the Kumicho. This is the highest recorded rank that a woman has ever reached in the Yakuza heirarchy. Of course she oly acted as Kumicho until Masahisa Takenaka was selected. As far as how female Yakuza look....you're guess is as good as mine..... |
I dont think so. Looks cool though.
|
I don't know....
|
i really would like to be a female yakuza <.<
>.> lets not tell hat to anyone... but its cool |
Besides not looking yakuza at all - They look a whole lot more male than female to me.

I always thought that look was more like a geisha style? someone in a thread said their friend translated the article, and said it was a female yakuza, that's the only reason I asked. Quote:

I think people are thinking of Lucy Liu in Kill Bill. She was a yakuza boss who wore a kimono.
|
nah, it was a Miyavi article thing, which I was told was translated.

The style that girl is wearing is a form of punk kimono style that is quite popular right now.
It is somewhat kimono-hime. I think it is a little untasteful and takes away the beauty of what a kimono is meant to do. I really don't like the openness of the front or the way the collar is done. Kimono looks so much better when worn up to the collar bones with the back of the neck showing in a wide expanse. In traditional Japanese aesthetics, prior to westernization, breasts were not the focal point of beauty in terms of body, instead, it was the back of the neck. If a woman in pre-westernize Japanese culture wanted to be risque, she showed a lot of her neck. . . Oh! Sorry for rambling, I just don't like it when the collar of a kimono is worn so close to the back of the neck. . . I don't think it's really what a female Yakuza would dress like. I think she'd probably would wear kimono traditionally mayhaps. I would suggest, if you'd like to do traditional kimono, yet give a sense of Yakuza, go with masculine motifs upon a kimono. Shishi dogs are good motifs, along with waves and eagles. If you can find a womans kimono with ryu-same ( dragons ) that would be good as well! : ) |
Ditto on the Japanese goth description. The closest thing that "female yakuza" brings to mind are some of the ”ガール” types that my Japanese co-workers seem so fascinated with.
For those who don't know what "ガール” is, it describes those girls with the dark tans, ludicrous makeup, and tight clothing. Many of them wear perfume to cover body odor, as some of them rarely bathe. Baths tend to wash off their fake, painted on suntans. ガール sometimes hang out together as groups, and some of these groups consider themselves to be gangs. |
You mean Ganguro???
I despise that fashion trend to be honest. I seen a few that have been, "cute," and only mildly so, but many of them take it all too far and tan far too much. Oshiroi ( Geisha make up ) is so much better for the skin. . . XD I do like some Kimono-hime styles. Some are rather inspired by the Taisho and Meiji styles of Kimono, which aren't so tight and formal, or look so tubular like the modern, formal style of kimono, which is okay, but I much prefer the vintage and Geisha looks, which Kimono-hime does burrow some Geisha styles, too. |
She looks quite like the girl in the Red Steel game for the Wii. Same hair and similar style Kimono thing.

Eh, I really don't like that pseudo kimono thing going on.
Despite the style of the first picture, it is a real kimono. ^^ This is so much prettier: |
just wondering, whats with the small red obi above the gold one?
i didnt know there could be two |

In panel two, you can see where the obi pillow goes. : ) Technically, one can wear two obi, but it is best worn using summer obi, like Hanhaba obi, which means half-width obi. One can use both of them together to create interesting and unique styles. <3 |
Wow I think this thread is pretty cool! I like how Tsuruko is very informative, & the info you gave on there being a female Kumicho in the early 80's reminds me of the anime "Gokusen", which I'm guessing is based on those events.
But I like this thread & don't think it's weird @ all!!:vsign: But a female Kimono with dragons on it would be awesome:D in black & red colors or golden dragons on a background of light blue & white. |
can someone repost the original pick?

@ the people who said she to the front piccu: It isn't a girl...it's guy on the picture on the first page. Who is he? Miyavi. *Giggles* ^^;; |

Teehee!!! Yeah...^^ *Giggles* |
Hmm. In alll honesty, if a female was ever a yakuza lord, she wouldn't dress like that. She'd lose respect almost immediately. A proper kimono, or a women's suit is what she would dress in.
|
::giggle:: It's a guy? Oh, wow. However, I never said he made a pretty lady. . . .
Now Taichi Saotome. . . I think Taichi pulls off women so much better. He's prettier then most women. . . He's an Onnagata in Kabuki. : ) You can find videos of him dancing on Youtube. He is an absolutely amazing dancer as well. . . |
