looking to become a lolita, but not sure where to start DX

sorry if theres another thread like this, but I searched and didn't find one...I've always been in love with the lolita fashion, but haven't really had the confidence to wear it ( alot of self esteem issues -_-") but now when I fell confident enough to do it, I have no idea where to start DX I'm not really sure what outfits would look good on me, nor really how to do any of the make up or anything like that. if you can, please help me! thank you very much DX

Best places to get clothing for beginners is

BODYLINE YOKOSO!

or

Anna House *~ Diffuse Pretty Dreams ~*

Both ship worldwide as far as I know, and the prices are the most reasonable you'll find for decent quality.

As for makeup, I have a tutorial here:

And a good place for advice is here:

I have a question, I love lolita and all it's aspects. But is there some sort of male counterpart for it?

Kodona and Aristocrat are fashions that males can wear and they are branches of Lolita:

Lolita Fashion - For Lolitas of All Styles
Lolita Fashion - For Lolitas of All Styles

Aristocrat

Kodona

Here:

In the Lolita section theres a list of fashion stores that do those kinds of clothing, more specifically:

Gloomth- Gothic Victorian Aristocrat, Men's Lolita Clothing, Visual Kei

They have some shirts like the ones in aristocrat.

Lolita Kisama - International Visual Kei Gothic Lolita Fashion

Has some coats and stuff that could work.

Wear what suits you, fits you and flatters you, and it'll be fine. Doesn't matter about anything else particularly. There is no certain way you have to look to dress Lolita styled as long as you make some effort. ^_^

Though it works more with Harajuku/Decora style, try thrift/second-hand clothing stores. I've found a lot of great cltohes at those types of stores for all types of Japanese fashion (I love Harajuku/Decora/Lolita) so I'm always browsing those stores, since I can find great bargins (since most of the time Lolita clothes are expensive; though Lolita Kisama, which I adore, has really cheap Lolita clothes). Also try Limebarb, they're another Visual Kei online shop.
