Translate This Harajuku Girl's Face & Neck?

Can Anyone translate what's written on this girls neck and face?

Do you realize how hard it would be to even see that? Not to mention the amount that can't be seen because of her hair.

I am going to make a guess and say it might be Buddhist mantras like from the horror story Hoichi the Earless, but that is only because of the imagry, and not what it actually says.

That's a creepy face...:smokingbear:

I can't see any kana in that face either, MMM... I'm guessing what it says still makes sense without it? I know kana is not always needed.. Seen it on pictures of shrines etc.. but as a begginer Japanese learner it feels so weird looking at long streams of kanji like that with no kana to add definition or context. Maybe thats just me?

Either way, I lol'd when I saw OP's pic, and the one you posted, MMM - It reminded me of this:

If you are unfamilliar with this face, click here for the news story.

Traditional Buddhist mantras would not likely be easily understood by a non-monk who hadn't studied them.

I know less than 500 kanji so.. ofcourse I wouldn't easily understand.. Monk or not lol

Edit: after posting this I thought about how different my life could be if I was a monk.. No way! I'm too fond of my posessions and my girlfriend lol Can't imagine a life of celibacy!

Actually the majority of Buddhist monks in Japan are married.

I'm pretty sure that's Tatsu from MUCC. that pic comes up when you search for him on photobucket.

ok.... nm... I clicked on the pic, it's just a cosplay... I wonder though if he ever actually looked that way.

anyway...

I sure can't translate that.

lol...i believe that this is some religious tradition. Anyways since its all in kanji and i come from a Chinese family, I'll ask my mom later on the day to translate this if she can see the letters because blurred...
the Chinese knows every "kanji" its the only writing they have/use ...so hard to memorize all when not taught it as a little kid... :(

:) i'll edit the post when I get my mom to translate:mtongue:

nevermind...too blurry even for a 100% Chinese native :P

Miyavifan 10-20-2009 10:38 PM

since it is kinda ontopic.. turns out Tatsu has looked like that.

So I gather that's a no? lol It can't be translated, at least not in traditional Japanese writing text?

sarasi 10-23-2009 01:43 AM

It will be either sutras or an old Chinese text. Either way it is impossible to translate the entire text as obviously her hair covers more than half of what's on her face, and the characters on her chin and neck are blurred/smudged/indistinct.

A few random characters I can make out have the meanings "bamboo", "breath", "wave", "colour" and "heart".

I meant to say as well- it was pretty obviously the Belgian girl was lying about falling asleep and waking up with a lot more stars on her face than she wanted- you could not fall asleep while getting a tattoo unless you were on some pretty heavy drugs, I swear to you. A pain-free procedure it is not.
