On animanga events, a lot of people wear lolita and cosplay, even though it's clearly not fit for them. In the cosplay department, a lot of them treat it as some sort of carnival, neglecting all the rules to cosplay and just do whatever they want (even though it means they fail).

As for lolita, you can't forbid someone to wear something, but you need to have self-knowledge. Nobody can forbid someone to put an underwear on its head and walk down the street, but if you have some common sense, you know it's ridiculous.

If you're overweight, just watch out with what you're wearing. You know that fashion is mean, and it's clearly not for yourself (people who say that are lying, or they don't realize that it's for other people). Fashion isn't for yourself, you're happy because you think it's beautiful. Beauty is something subjective, something that other people decide. For instance, the sense for beauty changes throughout the century. It doesn't make sense that people say they wear something, regardless of what other people think.

Because I haven't heard anyone who likes to wear underwear up its head as fashion. But I heard about people who like lolita, because they feel accepted in a lolita group, even though not in other fashion groups.

Besides the fashion industry aiming at presenting a waifishly thin image, in more stylized artwork, its a lot easier to draw thin people. I know because I've drawn both. Lolita as a style of art pretty much requires it, as the girls aren't presenting themselves as little girls as much as they are porcelain dolls. (IMO)

When cosplaying, I think one's body does play into it. This can be unfortunate for thicker people, darker skinned people, ect because there's just not really many characters to pick from.

Everyone should do what they think makes them happy...!!!

That includes gothic/lolita , cosplay and other out-of-the-ordinary styles (punks) as well........

I really think the chubby girls look so cute in Lolita wear. Little stumpy fingers, round eyes, pudgy legs, curly hair... they look so innocent & childlike, like a doll. More authentic.

I'd say the Lolita style doesn't suit anyone. At all. Overweight or skinny, those girls would look much better in normal clothes. I don't get why people feel the need to tell the world how different and special they are by putting on weird clothing. Cause that's what it is, no offense. I agree everyone can wear whatever they want, but then again it's okay for people to judge them, because they moment they decide to go out in the streets looking that way, they know they'll get stares, and it's because they want to be judged and noticed that they do it. I don't mean it in a bad way, but it's obvious they wanna get people's attention, otherwise I don't get why they'd wanna dress that way. They might feel comfy and pretty and whatever else, but the fact that they choose to stand out from a crowd talks about who they are, and if you want people to notice that, you might a well be prepared to get stares.
