Growing a j-rock hairstyle..

I've currently got a miyavi-inspired haircut, and i want to grow my hair. I'm not sure how long i want to go yet, but i don't want to end up with just a mop of mess like i have done previously when growing it! xD

my current hairstyle was inspired by the Freedom Fighters look!

So i was wondering if anyone had ideas of styles i could sort of 'grow it through' ?
or any tips for keeping it looking good while it grows xD

if you don't want to cut your hair while it is getting longer, maybe you would like to try kanon's look
