what fabric would you use? |
well within reason I have seen them made from many different fabrics, depends on how traditional you would want it to be I suppose...

i want that sort of silky material with the really neat designs on them

Silk brocade with weaved-in swastika patterns is very classical, but expensive and hard to find outside Japan. Light cotton is used in making yukata (summer kimono). Cotton, hemp and wool is used for normal kimono. Don't use artificial fabrics such as fortrel or polyester. It's cheap and it shows. |

A safe bet would be to look for natural soft colored fabric with subdued pattern, or gradient colored. Pattern of long stripes would be good if the collar is a solid dark color. |
just see what the fabric shop has.
embroided material tends to cost a lot though :( i wanna make myself a cyber-goth type furisode now :p will be cool if i can get one done for the expo in the summer ;) *ideas**ideas**ideas**ideas* oh dear, im gonna need so much more time and money :p |
