Japanese Tattoo

i think everybody knows japanese tattoos.most likely a koi,a mask or a samurai.
what do you think about these tattoos??i guess it became very popular the last years and that`s why i start this thread so post your opinion!!!

NanteNa 04-24-2007 12:23 PM

Hmmm... You mean a tattoo showing something japanese, or a tattoo made in Japan? O__Ô

ToBeAss 04-24-2007 12:33 PM

a tattoo showing something japanese.a koi for example or a samurai

Mattleninja 04-24-2007 12:35 PM

Some of it I think is really cliched and crap, I guess it depends and what you have and where you have it done. Personally I would never get a Japanese-esq tattoo, I want some angel wings though like Davey Havok.

ToBeAss 04-24-2007 12:47 PM

i think that there are too many japanese tattoos that are showing the same.it would be better if there would be more different images

Ayame90 04-24-2007 12:56 PM

True, but maybe they just wanna stik to the original.

ToBeAss 04-24-2007 01:06 PM

but japanese art history got more than just this few used images

Tsukikage 04-24-2007 09:22 PM

My tattoo that im getting done just now (its taken 3 sessions so far) is of Sakura, cherry blossom, I think its better to get somthing that means more to you personaly, otherwise, someone else is more than likely to have an extreemly simmilar, if not the same, tattoo.

Japanese tattoos are very strong and meaningful. I'm hoping that the majority of people who get these tats do it for the meaning behind it. But, unfortunately like everything else Japanese art has been streamlined so its just another popular thing to get. I personally never get a tattoo if it doesnt mean something to my soul. All my art is extremely personal as it should be.

Same here.(If I ever) I'm only getting tattoos that mean a lot to me and I won't regret them.
Someone else might think that's(the tattoo) stupid but it would mean a lot to me.

kokunin 04-25-2007 03:17 AM

I'd get atat with a cross and buddha beads aroudn the neck of the cross and then have angel wings come offf the image, about $5000...lolman that's alot of ink...I might die...AWESOME!!!!

Oren 04-25-2007 03:33 AM

Go for it Kokunin!! You won't die, but you might pass out!!:D After its done and youve been revived, you'll look at your beautiful peace and smile knowing you have something to carry with you for the rest of your life. Kind of like a child :)

CoolNard 04-25-2007 11:17 AM

Can someone paste pictures of j-tattoos here so we can see? :D

I was thinking of incorporating the wings of a phoenix onto a dragon's body ^_^ And yeah, sakura leaves falling would be a nice idea...

NanteNa 04-25-2007 12:38 PM

Ahhh.. *finally gets pointe*

I agree with Oren, Japanese tattoos do have some strong meanings behind them. I know i'm only 14, but my step-dad is a tattoo artist and he says that most of the tattoos he does for his customers have meanings behind them and reason. I personally want to be a tattoo artist when i grow up and i can understand why some people look at tattooed people think "why the hell would you get that tattooed on yourself?!?" or "That's ugly!" because we all look at things differently to each other. I just hope alot of people don't get tattoos because of the mainstream and popualarity because then you would look back at it and regret it, and you're also stuck with it for life.

ToBeAss 04-25-2007 04:16 PM

that´s exactly what i think about it.i think tattoos have to be a unique thing to it´s owner.someone who copies a tattoo don´t understand the meaning of having one.in my opinion it has to be very close related to the person that wear´s it.all other things are nothing more than expensive stickers

Tsukikage 04-25-2007 06:37 PM

Very nicely put, i would post a few pics up here but someone who doesnt understand may still copy it though. I see my tattoos as marks of my achievments in life and particular occasions

Oren 04-25-2007 06:43 PM

Well, Tsukikage if you don't want to post pics of your art would you mind describing what you have? I always love to hear about others art and boast about mine!!

Tsukikage 04-25-2007 08:00 PM

ok, well iv got the bushido code down my left arm, and the main one im getting at the moment is sakura, from the left side of my chest, over my shoulder then onto my shoulder blade. I also have the word Rewrite in Japanese on my chest. thats all iv got planned for the timebeing.
What tattoos do you have Oren?(and anyone else for that matter)

ToBeAss 04-26-2007 10:08 AM

i can understand that you don´t want to post a pic.it was just an offer
but describing is also nice^^

MariYa 04-26-2007 12:00 PM
