I have been to Harajuku many times. You can do a lot of people watching. Shibuya has a lot of crazy fashion too. :)

I went there, they seem to bring tourists from afar, absolutly amazing outfits though I must say! Even saw a guy dressed as a superhero:p

I loove Harajuku street fashion.

I'm not big on that fruity/bright colored trend with all the beads and bows and stuff - but I like the Gothic Lolita/Elegant Gothic Lolita stuff - as long as its not too over the stop.

Some of the outfits are really cute, and I'd wear some of it (toned down) if I had the money to import the clothes.

lol, i would have a field day if i went there! man, not jus with the people watching..i might dress up to be the silly gaijin too. lol.

no, but seriously...i'm kidding....(half? xD)

u almost killed me from the shock w that ganguro+gothic lolita, since for the sake of me i cant imagine such different styles combined. they are right the opposite from the other! i mean ganguro, dark skin, light colours clothes and makeup while gothic is white skin with dark color clothes n makeup O.o but well, japanese ppl do the impossible XD
i cant see the style, i see some ganguro, some lolita and some gothic O.o, what is harajuku then?

MaliciousKitty 09-23-2006 08:21 PM

Harajuku is a place. But its where you usually find those styles, so they get dubbed as 'Harajuku fashion', 'Harajuku Street Fashion', or 'Japan street fashion'

Harajuku itself isn't a style - its just the area in Tokyo where you might see alternative styles more often~ (though, I heard people really only dress up on the weekends)

I study fashion and I absolutely love japanese street fashion! lots of fashion people go there to see what they are using, because the clothes dont fit on the last trend ~ it seems they are always a step forward =) i dream with the day i can go there, too T.T

You asked for it, so these are three pictures that I took today (Sunday) on the Harajuku bridge in Tokyo. :)

Maybe I will try to post bigger versions later.

Kaicui 05-07-2007 02:41 PM

wut do u call dat style with bape?

Mattleninja 05-07-2007 10:35 PM

I agree on how great it is.

But my only problem with it, as I may have mentioned somewhere before is theay it doesn't cater for guys.

mikkila 05-10-2007 01:44 AM

Harajuku is totally awsome, i'm obsessed. I really wish there was something that cool around where i live

I think that guys should just join in, but I have seen a bunch of visual Kei dudes, and in the Fruits book/mag there a bunch of guys

well, now, let a Decora-chan take the time ta learn ya!
the idea itself is very simple, lots of hairclips, lots of bracelets, lots of necklaces, lots of STUFF.
but when it comes to putting all that together, you gotta really put your brain into overdrive. it has to be messy, yet, go together, has to be cute, childish, and way out there. every decora girl (or decora-chan, or decorer) has a different look or point of fashion. lately, I've seen some girls dress with a lolita dress and have decora elements. now, type in "Decora Japanese Fashion"
onta google and you should get some pictures of what i'm explaining here.
it's the fashion that seems to be dubbed "Harajuku Girl" and whatnot.
the whole style's fun to wear, but because of the layered clothing (oh, forgot to mention that...) it's super hot and itchy.....i normally wear something closer to Gyaru when it's too hot out. i'm such a wierd little girl! (if only i could feel the divine fun of lolita.....oh, Angelic Pretty, anon!)
i hope i could help you!
