I say go for it.. yes, people are going to stare, but I doubt they'll make fun. If anything, they'll probably think "Damn, where does she shop?" ^^

Harajuku is an area, it's not a fashion. Although I know what you mean, you're speaking of the kind of fashion that is most often seen around Harajuku, right?

I honestly think that if you have enough confidence you can wear anything you want, and whereas the majority of people may not find it to their standards they will respect you for being yourself. I am part of a Gal-Cir in UK and the majority of these people dress old school manba/banba (lol sorry googled an image for referance) and they've never had any problems - if you show you're confident in your own skin people won't bother you.

go for it u wont be alone i do it aswell people laughed the 1st day but then they got over it and thought it was pretty cool

if you truly dig something, then other`s opinions about it shouldn`t be too important to you.

i get what you mean about the family/parental issues; i get it, too. (strict asian family, hahaha.) i usually tone my shit down around them, but only because i don`t want to get in trouble (srsbizns!!1!), not because i want to `save` their reputation or any shit like that.

let people stare, so long as you don`t care.

I dress a little like that sometimes, but there's not many shops here where I live that I can buy clothes like that^^
I sometimes find stuff though..

Thank you! It was bugging me that everything called it harajuku style. x_X
Whatever style you mean, go for it. Just make it look good and dress in whatever makes you feel comfortable :)

I completely agree with Xinyi :)

As long as you like it and know it's your style, then there's no problem wearing it out. Dare to be unique >D

I live in Singapore.
I've seen people dress as lolita and walking around before,it is rare in Singapore.I am sure they get "looks".

But don't be so negative and think that people look at you and think you are weird!

I look at people too, when they are dress up as lolita, but what is passing through my mind is,"Hey that dress is nice!" or "Wow,that person have the confidence to dress differently!"

=)

I love Harajuku :)
I would, but being.... uber-worried about what people think of me,
I tend to... How shall I say... Follow the herd?

lol, I don't dress my own way. I'm scared too. xD
But, you should wear what you feel most comfortable wearing.

Should I take the chance and dress harajuku/japanese style?

YES!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
