Woow! So bad!
I believe that IS a very embarrassing situation. Even if speaking a little japanese, I wouldn't never have faced that! In another hand, I've read that eating sushis or makis without chopstick, just but hand is not impolite (to be confirmed by natives or japan specialists, I expect they can help us about this subject!). |

I seemed to have skipped learning how to use chopsticks when I was starting to become interested in the culture and such. I don't see how I missed something so inportant without noticing xD. What about spoons?

I couldn't fit the entire unagi sushi into my mouth. So I had to bite it in half, and it fell apart.. I kinda went "Oh!" when it fell apart, so the waiter look at me and goes "If something wrong with it?" I kinda laughed that embarassed kind of laugh and said "I bit into the seaweed and it fell apart on me. Sorry." and he just laughed and walked away. XD |

Let's say I'm also a novice chopstick user, so the waiter brought me a pair of rigged chopsticks too. At first I felt a bit embarassed, but there are many people who can't cope with the regular chopsticks. So a second later I wasn't feeling embarassed anymore, because it made me think of that people who can't use chopsticks at all...[people who need help if they want to eat something]. That makes me feel sad. I can't use my left hand properly, because of my motorial function on that side. There's nothing wrong with my right hand, so I'm glad I can use that one.^^ But you don't have to feel unworthy Utakachan! I mean, why should you? You're not the only one who find it hard to use regular chopsticks, you know.^^ |
