As they`re marketed as mochi ice cream outside of Japan. They`re quite common, and sold pretty much everywhere. |

I had a job in Japan where I saw what many people died from. Choking on Mochi was a big surprise to me. I'm afraid to eat it now.

In america at numerious japanese restaurants that I've been to, they have this ice cream labled as "mochi ice cream". It was ice cream packed inside of a soft dough. When I moved to Japan I was looking around forever for it, but no one knows what "mochi ice cream" is. Nyororin posted a link to what it actually is called here. That's probably what the OP was talking about. |
Hmm, I wanted to bring this topic back for a quick minute.
I went and tried Mikawaya mochi, and although the strawberry was good, the dough was quite gooey and very powdery. Is it suppose to be powdery? |
