Cucumber soda???

When I first saw this, I was like..."That sounds gross!"

I wonder how it will sell. Here is the link to info.

Cucumber soda hits Japanese shelves

Who thought that cucumbers would ever be a soda flavor?

Not me.

I really like cucumbers, but I'm not sure how it would taste as a soda flavor.

i like it, it tasts really good..its accually known as a childs soda..but sometimes adults get it..i like it even though im not a kid..it is wonderful..you should try it before commenting about it

I was just saying that is sounds gross. I also said that I am not sure what it would taste like. So....I wasn't saying anything bad about it.

Question for you...

Can you taste the cucumber flavor in it that much? I know with grape soda, you can taste the grape flavor fine, but since a cucumber is a vegetable with a lighter taste...I am wondering if it is noticable.

after a while it is noticed, but it is really light in flavor...depends on how much you drink i suppos, it dosent bother me, but my friends think it tasts..odd..to put it at the least

I`ve never heard anything about it being a "child`s" soda, especially as it *just came out*. Maybe you`re thinking of something else. In Japan, most parents don`t give their kids carbonated drinks to begin with.......

I bought one the first day it was in stores, and don`t really like it.
Here is a good way to get an idea of what the cucumber in it tastes like -
Take a cucumber, grate it, and squeeze out the juice. Then *freeze* it. After it is thoroughly frozen, if you lick it, it tastes really sweet. (I discovered this back when I would grate and freeze cucumbers for my baby)
It does not at all taste like the normal cucumber flavor everyone is used to. In fact, it has a sort of cinnamon-like aftertaste.

I probebly will never try this. Even the smell of cucumbers makes me gag. But it is interesting that their would be a pop made out of a vegetable. :/ But I guess, as Nyororin pointed out, it tastes diffrent than what you'd think.

That's some interesting info Nyororin. I never thought of freezing the juice from a cucumber. And you say it tastes sweet???

I'll have to try that sometime.

I know, it`s really strange. It`s not something you`d think would have a sweet flavor.

I wasn`t really freezing it to freeze it - My son liked cucumber when he was a baby.... But obviously would only eat a couple of spoonfuls at a time, so I would grate the whole cucumber and freeze it, melting just enough each meal so that there was no waste.

Since cucumbers don't have that much flavor in the first place, since they are mostly water, I never thought they would make a sweet treat.

You said it has a cinnamon-like aftertaste...I really like cinnamon. :D
