My guess isn`t 56, but 5, 6 (like 5 or 6). It would make much more sense in the context. About 5 or 6 years makes sense, but about 56 years sounds strange.

So, "It had been about 5 or 6 years since doing animation, so I was a bit hesitant." (substitute he for I if they`re talking about someone else.)

Second one is "Delivered a dozen 65yen cans of Coca Cola bought at Rogers to Tokuhiro Matsubara in the staff room."

There's not a comma between 5 and 6, but I think there's not another explanation, can't be 56 years, does not make sense.
