If you want to be consistent, I think it should be 二(ふ)人(たり) as たり is the counter for people. I understand one た is dropped, so it could belong to either ふた or たり.

In any case, if we keep on counting....
三人 みったり
四人 よったり
五人 いつたり
二十人 はたたり

via internet,i know this is called熟字训,such as土产,红叶,一人(simplified kanji,i think you can read and understand them:ywave: ), it is read as a whole,cannot be seperated

I glanced over the page and didn't see anyone else write this, but what the notation ふた・つ means is that the first portion of the word would be the kanji and the portion after would be the hiragana. A little bit of a poor explanation, but hopefully this example will help:
二つ
(ふた・つ)

This is how I write various verbs/adjectives when I'm making flashcards to study vocab.

Believe it or not, Japanese written language today configures very similar to ancient Sumerican writings. Yes, how the Chinese Characters are applied in Japanese.
