And i figured it is an alternate form of 食わなければならない

Do you have to create a new thread everytime you have a little question?

ぬ is just another way of ない
From Japanese: A Comprehensive Grammar:
引用:
111.1.2.1 -nu
-nu is a written-style variant of -nai (but note that some idiomatic expressions such as [omowanu N] 'unexpected' cannot be changed into omowanai N).
a. 眠れぬ夜が続いている。
Nights when one can't sleep [because of the heat] continue.

b. 秋の訪れは存外はやいかもしれぬ。
The coming of autumn can be surprisingly sudden.

To be fair, the "Japanese Questions/Translations" thread always seemed to me a bit weird because, at least in theory, every question on this subforum ought to be a a Japanese question or request for translation.

Good point. OP could ask all his questions in one thread was what I was talking about.
____

BTW, we don't ever say 食わぬばならぬ. We say 食わねばならぬ.

I thought creating new thread would be easier for people to see my question, sorry if it caused trouble///

I'm sort of in your camp on this one. Provided your titles are useful (like having a title "ぬ vs ない"), it's better for everyone, I think, to have individual posts.

I mean, if I wanted to know the difference, I think it would be easier to see such a post and read it rather than just every day scrolling through the 10 or so new posts in "Japanese Help Questions/Translations" wondering if something I'm interested in will pop up.

I think it wouldn't be a problem unless you forced other new threads off the front page every couple days.

Don't create a new thread everytime you have a little question!

Use the big Q&A thread or ask all your questions in one thread.
