Guys, this is weird.

I have heard and seen it written many times, that the Japanese language is:

"The devil's own tongue designed to thwart the spread of Christianity."

Why is that so?

I am asking for helpful comments.

Because Christianity has pretty much failed to take hold anywhere in Japan other than very small enclaves (and in Hokkaido, I think).

If you excluded the Japanese people at my small church in Sagamihara, I only knew one Japanese Christian.

I wouldn't blame it on the language, though. I'd blame it on the history and culture of Japan.

I have heard and seen this written never. And I really do not see how a language itself would stop the spread of Christianity. I mean.. the bible has been translated into Japanese, so not much argument in favor of that theory there....

Yes, I just want to make sure. The Japanese language isn't associated with demonic activities right? Maybe its from someone who found it REALLY hard to master japanese?

Associated with demonic activities??.. come on now, use your head. A language is just a language, it can be used to say or communicate all things.. good and bad.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Kaka said that. He is know for being very Christian.
