Help with translation
Cheers peeps,
So here is the deal, i'm thinking of doing a tattoo with my cats name (died after 14 years, sorta of an homage) and i would love to make it in Japanese characters. The name is Misu (Me-zoo), which i know means 'Water' in Japanese... The thing is i'm not sure if theres a different way to write it which is more appropriated, seeing it is a name... Any help would be welcomed... Thanks in advance. |

And the name is ミス. |

As KyleGoetz said, Misu is not water, but “mistake”. Water is mizu. If you want some letters for tattoo, why don’t you use kanji? Water is 水 . |
Ah, i see. I should have been more careful with the pronunciation. I'm Portuguese so the s in misu reads like a z. So, yes... mizu is what i meant.

Thank you all, by the way.

Mizu is not a name in Japanese, it is water, so to have it written phonetically is strange, and then tattooing that on your skin permanently, is strange, and then it is the name of a cat, and it is in a language you cannot read. |
Apparently it's a popular cats name, i gave the name because of a cartoon i used to watch when i was growing up (had a cat with the same name in it). And honestly, i really don't think it's that odd, phonetically it's much closer to a Japanese name and Japanese characters are aesthetically pleasant.
Anyways, what kind of Japanese is this? Hiragana, kanji, something else? |
