Richard Gere making movie about Hachiko
American actor Richard Gere will star in and produce "Hachiko: A Dog's Story," a drama based on the true story of the beloved Japanese akita Hachiko.
In "Hachiko: A Dog's Story", Gere will play a college professor who takes in a dog he finds abandoned. Both man and dog find their lives changed forever as they form an unbreakable bond. The project is based on a true story of the dog immortalized in the statue outside of Shibuya station in Tokyo, and inspired by the 1987 Japanese film "Hachiko monogatari." The movie will be produced in association with Japanese movie studio Shochiku and is scheduled for release in America in 2008. Source: Variety |

I don't like Richard Gere, too full of himself. The plot sounds good though, I'll be looking forward to reading the reviews =)

Aww...I love Hachiko, such a loyal dog...I wanna see the movie..

It sounds good. I've always been intrested in that story. The first time I read about it I cried. Hachiko was such a loyal dog. I'm surprised that they haven't made a movie yet though. I thought after so long there would be a movie by now. I can't wait for the movie. *grabs tissues*
