Worst I dunno but the best for me is "Tricky Brains" (HK)with Stephen chow (the best) in Japan maybe The Returner or Godzilla lol

The best Japanese movie I ever saw was Seven Samurai and that probably will never change.

I didn't like Tetsuo: The Iron Man...and I don't really understand why people do.

I don't have a worst really. My favourite one though was Suicide Club.

kyo_9 01-23-2008 06:57 AM

I like a lot of japanese movie but the worst I have seen was tegami

Hatredcopter 01-23-2008 07:03 AM

I have three favorites. The first is The Seven Samurai, which is regarded as pretty much the greatest Japanese film of all time (directed by the legendary Akira Kurosawa). The second is Ikiru, the one movie that almost had me in tears by the end (also directed by Kurosawa). The third is Harakiri, which is just all-around amazing.

All these movies are old (late 1940s/1950s) but they are some of the best movies I've ever seen. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Don't really have a "worst" yet.

lol MMM, I was about to say the same thing about Tetsuo.

I don't really have a favourite J movie but Battle Royale was alright.
Ring was good too. The Eye wasn't bad but I thought The Grudge was Korean?
Koreans make some good movies. (Oldboy comes to mind.)
Seven Samurai was alright. I haven't seen the others that Hatredcopter put down tho :D

Are you thinking of Shutter? If so it's actually a Thai movie. Its one of my favorites.

I really liked Nobody Knows, even though it was SUPER sad... and it was true story.. I really want to watch more Japanese movies, but right now, doramas are my thing. I think I will start getting more into movies soon. And I am going to be in Japan when the Hana Yori Dango Final movie is coming out, so that will be awesome!

I don't have a worst, either, but mainly because I haven't seen many.

Powermad147 02-20-2008 04:13 AM

Hmmm...Worst would have to be "Howl's Moving Castle", but thats only by default, it was really not very bad...

The best, so far, would be 5 Centimeters per Second, though I have to say it's about to be beaten by The Place Promised in our Early Days >.> Oh! Another favorite to tie with it may be Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal, but really that's an OVA, not a movie...
