Shinobi is set during the 1600s during the Japanese Warring States Era. Two ninja clans, the Iga and the Kouga, have been waging a war against each other for centuries. Kouga Gennosuke and Oboro, the most powerful members of the opposite clans, coincidentally met and fell in love. The Tokugawa Leyasu, the highest lord in Japan, then pits the two ninja clans in a battle to the death in an event to decide the next shogun. Gennosuke and Oboro must then decide whether their loyalties lie with each other or their clans.

This is such an excellent movie! When I was watching it I was so absorbed into it. It is even better watching it in surround sound. Great action and directing. Definitely worth watching. Highly recommended.

ah cool movie, i recommend it too

yeah the movie was really good, but the special effects were quite bad. I dont mind a film having no special effects at all, but if you use them, you should use them in an at least acceptable way. And in this movie... Well some of the combat scenes were pretty good, but when they were hopping from stone to stone, ahh it was just horrible!!!
But anyway it was a low budget film so its alright. Nevertheless the movie is good and lets hope that the director gets a bit more cash for his next piece of art.

Based on The anime version basilisk aparantly.. :)

I love that movie, the characters are just great plus a good storyline - makes a refreshing change :-)

oh yes i really love it... after i watch this movie i immediately look for Basilisk (the anime version of this movie) and Hotarubi and Genosuke really so cute here
