British Shows on Japanese TV?

Hello world.

Long Story: So I was watching TV this morning and as soon as i turned it on there was some anime about these kids who used dinosaurs stored in their watches to battle with other people. I quickly turned off that Pokemon wannabe and flicked on to takeshi's castle. I was looking at the lineup for the rest of the shows for the day and theres sasuke.. banzuke.. Hole in the wall.. Hang on a sec -> every decent TV show on our TV comes from either Japan for America (HEROES FTW). I wondered if some of our TV had been badly dubbed and imported for you guys to watch?

Short Story: Is there currently any English TV shows aired in Japan? Has there ever been any?

Doctor Who is being aired... As for others, I know that there are quite a few BBC documentaries that get air time here.
Regular tv shows, on the other hand, are pretty sparse. I`m sure they are out there on some pay sort of channel, but not aired regularly. Plus, I have to say that once dubbed, it`s usually hard for me to tell where a program is from unless it has some obvious feature. At least when I flip through them - I`m not a huge fan of television.
