consisting of... Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance, Old Boy, Sympathy For Lady Vengeance ....in that order

I heard the there's going to be an American remake of Old Boy with Will Smith as the main character. Only the word FAIL comes in my mind when I think about it.

id watch, ive never been disappointed in a will smith movie, acting wise.

its great movie the way it is, there is NO reason it needs to be remade

except for the fact that there are millions of americans who have never seen it......who's directing it? what if the director is ron howard, i havent seen a bad ron howard film.
we should hold out till we find out everything, they could make it better
the departed was a remake of infernal affairs and it was amazing and stayed true to evertything

i dont think such a movie could get better unless it changes. its like how a message gets warped after each person tells it. the story being done again might be good but i refuse to call it Old Boy. it just isnt the same

i feel you, but will smith and a director that probably can do it if they already have will smith
i think its going to be a success..i like old boy just as much as the next person, if you ask the director and everyone who had to do with the first old boy, they most likely feel honored that this movie is getting re made with one of the best american actors alive.

and also the vengeance films - i thought they were also lame although i cant remember what happened in them now - but then again thats why because they were crap!

but imdb posts all the works of actors and future works, and when i went to will smith's he has about 22 things coming out and old boy was one of them

Doesn't matter who the actor is. Through out the history of American filmmaking nobody made a movie of pure vengeance such as Old Boy. And If Wikipedia is correct they already removed the incest scene, which was an important part of the movie.
That movie is gonna fail.

i saw the incest scene, didnt know it was incest at the time, not until they showed the first incest scene that i realized what was going on and my mind was going crazy over how insanely creative the movie was

well obviously they cant take it from something that doesnt exist yet. its just a feeling i have. so we dont have to discuss it, since there is no point. we can just wait and see. i would prefer it if we stopped re-making films. its getting ridiculous.

i read somewhere on the net that the people that have all the rights to re-make these foreign films are doing it because they know the average american doesnt want to read subtitles and therefore they can make money for little amount of actual effort.

yea i was like that when i was younger in middle school, i hated subtitles, so when dubbed stuff came out i was excited and i thought dubbed was better, but when i got to high school i started hating dubs and id rather see something subbed....i personally would rather movies not be remade and for them to just be released in the us in the first place, like they shudda just put old boy out in the theaters here when it came out there. they do that with our movies, but that probably wont happen ever.

Yes you can. Just because it's an anime doesn't mean it's impossible to be made into a live action movie. You just need good staff, that's all. Look at Transformers movie, I can't say it sucked.

thats not really live-action though, they used lots of CGI. if they did dragonball with crazy amounts of CGI it would have been better i think

but to me like the stuff they can do, the flying the kamehameha's, and the world, that can be done, but theres stuff they cant do, like the hair, i wanna see dragonball z hair, they didnt even attempt it, goku is in high school in the movie, goku NEVER went to school, they had that being where he met chi chi, that was wack he met chi chi when he was 11 and 12
like they didnt get ANYTHING story wise right, they shudda just called it sumn different
they kamehameha's looked like gas
like how he met master roshi wasnt the same, he learned how to to the kamehameha b4 the world tornament when he was 11 or 12 with krillin, they changed that
they had the world tournament looking like mortal kombat when its more along the lines of a football game stadium type joint but with fighting....it was wack

but there is a director out there that can pull off the real dragonball z
so what i said isnt completely true
