Strange Films

I love unusual films and my favourite western ones would be 'The Science Of Sleep', 'Brazil', 'City Of Lost Children', 'Big Fish' etc.

When it comes to Asian Cinema my top 3 would be Uzumaki (though it can't live up to the Manga), Calamari Wrestler (about a young girl who falls in love with a giant squid) and best of all Hellevator (I just love the bit with the kid who has a pet brain in a jar).

Oh I know I've excluded the films of Miikie Takashi, it goes without saying that they're mostly pretty odd and really good too. So anyone got any others to add to the list?

Miike Takashi's films are always insane/great XD
I didn't really like Uzumaki, I thought it tried too hard...

What do people think of Miike's recent films?

I loved his earlier films, Visitor Q, Happiness of the Katakuris etc. and then kind of lost interest after Gozu was released.

Out of his more recent films, I enjoyed The Great Yokai War, didn't think much of One Missed Call and haven't seen Zebraman or Izo yet. So does he still rock or is he losing it?

I have only seen one of Mike's films however this will change soon since the film i watched 'Three Extremes' his short film being 'Cut' I believe was amazing and great, very wierd but good.
Has anyone else seen this, if so what do you think of it?

Thanks Will.

Haggis did you not like Gozu, I thought it was a great film.

Ha yeah 'Box' was a bit creepy but hey it was still a good film,

I've only seen Gozu once because I rented it, I remember I was really enjoying it but sort of lost the plot half way through and then was just confused at the end. Not sure whether this is because of the film or because I was just a bit tired and probably not too sober either :)

Have a feeling the film would grow on me if I saw it again, the American version has lots of interviews and commentaries that the UK version doesn't have so they might help explain what's going on a bit (though Miike doesn't tend to give away a lot of explanations in the other commentaries I've heard by him)

There's uhm. this one about a Vortex I watched. Everything had to do with spirals and snails and ended up being really bad. Haha.

The Neighbor No.13 is also Strange.

I think one of the strangest films i have seen is Abnormal Beauty.

About a girl obssessed with death.
Very strange.

Visitor Q is so very very wrong....

Miike Takeshi is the best for strange/wierd movies.
