Give examples. If by heavy metal you mean bullshit bands in this generation like Slipknot, then no, it's not true heavy metal.

The last album is totally NOT mainstream even thoguh they moved to a bigger record.

The Day That Never Comes - typical heavy metal ballade song, where heavy metal solos come in the second part.

Suicide and Redemption - Full instrumental heavy metal song, shows the great skills of the band.

Then Cyanide, My Apocalypse etc. music is NOT mainstream.

MTV shows mainstream crap, it never shows Metallica for some reason. Slipknot is there frequently.

I'm waiting for your argument now.

Load,Reload,St.Anger(New Metal with bizarre drums and no guitar at all),and now a lame tentative of go back to the 80's.Basically everything since the Black Album is totally commercial,I don't like much Thrash Metal anyway, but if I have to choose I prefer Slayer or Megadeth,at least they stayed loyal to metal all these years.

PS:I don't like Slipknot either, but at least they are not trying to fool anyone.

Wrong. Sucky albums, but not commercial. Bands go commercial when they sell out to a bigger label like Warner Music. Staying at the same record as the previous albums means they didn't try to commercialize their music, but they experimented with various sounds (including hard rock), but failed.

Now they moved to WM, but surprisingly enough, these songs are more heavy metal than those 3 previous albums.
