I don't concur, Slipknot haven't surpassed Mettallica in quality, Slipknot are very repetitive, every song I've heard sound the same, and Mettallica has a big legion of fans, like big, I would guess double or trice the Slipknots fan base. The only thing I guess Slipknot are better than Mettallica are there concerts, man, they are wild, but other than that I don't see anything else. And after the Black Album there were a couple of good songs, but they were mixed with a lot of crap.

I don't think the amount of fans one band has over the other can be used as proof that said band are better, that would make Britney spears better than both Slipknot and Metallica.
I'm not sure how a Slipknot/Metallica comparison works? It's not really the same genre, and both bands have separate but powerful sounds. [EDIT - it's always a bad idea to say you're going to be bigger than a band that is already freakin' huge, and silly to suggest it when you don't even share the same fan base to begin with.]

That being said, Slipknot's new stuff is poor. I was a huge fan of their old, old work. I'm more into my rumbling, thundering metal than the doomy sounds of their new song (Dead memories? I may have got that wrong). Although the song 'All Hope Is Gone' is much like their old sound and I love it.

Like Absolutewestbrutal said, the amount of fans does not matter much.

Slipknots new stuff is pretty good some of it though your right isn't so great, but the All Hope is Gone album is just simply amazing o_o, and the Dead Memories is an exceptional good song

about Britney Spears i don't care for her very much nore her music, pop doesn't really mix well with me and most of her music movies just kind of shows how much slutly she can be like the womanizer video is just stupid...

@Crami: Some of the music is repetitve but it sounds good, but then agian some of those that repeat arn't so great >_<

@Acid: yeah he is right but its the fan that also makes the band to be come known also

I don't know there music, so I can't say they suck.

I agree slipknot isn't good.

to be honest Slipknot has some good songs and not good. But Metallica were on of the best for a long time but i think somewhere before or after St. Anger they became very crappy. :vsign:

But i would rather listen to Rotting Christ or Amon Amarth over them period.

Slipknot is metal, you know what I expect from heavy metal? Great solos. They fail to deliver quality solos, unlike Metallica. Metallica is a symbol of metal, Slipknot tries but fails miserably to be like them.

Go listen or Kirk Hammet on Master of Puppets and you'll see real metal. Or you can check out Black Sabbath, pure heavy metal.

Weird, that's why he is most known, for being a good vocalist. It's a matter of taste, really.

Real metal, not really? About who?

Sutiiven 01-30-2009 10:25 PM
