Is AKB48 is a bit too sexy?
It's not that I don't like them (you know sometimes see teen girl in school uniform is quite good; may be I'm a perverted myself haha!).
But in the other hand sometime I feel a bit weird to see them act a bit ecchi in some MV, and the problem is many of them not even 18. Eventhough I'm a hahaha.... a ecchi myself, sometime I still feel my morality clash with my fantasy in my head. Do you feel the same? And sorry if this topic is uncomfortable to some AKB48 fans. I don't mean to offense AKB, and I like them too. I just feel uncomfortable with some of their MVs. That's all. |
It sounds like you are feeling a bit guilty about your own fetish fantasies.

Anyway, thank you for your comment. I just wanna see what the other think about this. |
never heard of them, are they any good, concerning their music?
|
It's called fanservice and they are not the first to do that.
Click HERE for the PV of HEAVY ROTATION. If you want to know what Qayin is talking about watch the PV |
I believe I know what you mean. Just enjoy it. They do it for entertainment value, so others can enjoy their work. I'm a huge fan of Buono!, & I don't care who knows it tbh. Maybe it's because I'm around the same age as Miyabi, Momoko & Airi (I'm 19), but I enjoy their PV's & songs. Just enjoy AKB48. & the fact you feel guilty about some of the MV's, is good. It shows your not one of those nutters into all that underage business :)

I was watching them on TV this morning. I don't really know them that well, but I can't imagine them doing something that offensive/obscene, per se. I mean, them acting a little "sexy" in their MVs is no where near as bad as some of the other underage girl stuff that goes on here.
|
I remember seeing that poster of them in their underwear at Tower Records when I was in Tokyo a couple months ago. I had no idea they were that young! They kind of look older to me, at least in that one picture I've seen.
|
Well, one of them even made an Adult Video, so don't worry about it.
|
What! No chance!

HAHAHAHA, I find none of them attractive - nor do I take anything they do seriously. Sex sells - even when you're underage. (ew, that sounded gross)

I do think the whole thing is a little odd, but it's nothing I haven't seen before with other bands of this type.
It's taking it a little too far, but I guess it depends how you view it. I mean, I'm a young girl myself and I can see the cute factor, but I'm not really sure that it's an overly sexualised thing... to me, it's not, anyway. |

I heard that AKB wanna stop this AV selling. They said this AV damage their band image (or idol image) something like that. |
AKB48 fans
I just started getting into AKB48. I watched their Webster Hall performance in New York and was surprised to see the audience was mostly non-Asians(mostly whites, Hispanics, blacks etc...)
Any AKB48 fans? |
yep. hello-online recently added akb48 pics
|
^ Yeah, I saw that. A H!P site having an AKB forum. I think its cool. I like H!P like Buono!, C-ute and some MM. MM and AKB48 performed on the same stage during the 24 hour TV thing.
|
I luv AKB48!
Kashiwagi yuki Miyazaki Miho Takajo Aki Minegishi Minami Itano tomomi Sashihara Rino Matsui Rena Every Asian country will have their own version of AKB48 by the end of two years. The AKB48 format is revolutionary. It's like combining Reality TV with pop-Idols. I love their sexy, cute image. |
French Kiss Zutto mae Kara
Great song from sub unit of AKB48
Kashiwagi and Takajo are so cute! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8_zoWZQgs4 |
Do you like these videos?
You wouldn't believe how popular they are here, the first one has over 11mil views, and I see it a lot in other places >< |
I'm already imagining teenage girls screaming KAWAIIII! while watching these videos in the other parts of the world.
|
2nd video reminds me when in movie Beowulf they did the thing - let's see how many objects we can put in front of his "little wolf" while he runs around naked.
and AKB48...well it's group that only could work in Japan. i just can't pay attention and take seriously music videos where there are so many singers, dancers and panties. |
Yes. Very Kawaii (^_^)
|
This bubblegum pop sensation is not unique to Japan.
All that sh*t from Europe is exactly the same. S-club 7, Aqua, Spice girls, Venga boys... |
I don't even question it anymore.

and if they don't look 12, do they look like they are trying to look like they are 12? and is it the 12 year oldishness that everyone loves about it and calls awesome? |

I don't know what the appeal is. I mean obviously they're pretty women(girls?) but that's about it. |
Why are you calling the AKB48 idols lolicon in the poll?
|
I love how so far no one has voted that lolicon is messed up XD

Any sane random Japanese person replies: "うん、めっちゃ" / "Yeah, totally" The more important question is why isn't anyone here calling it that? o.O lol |

And tut tut... still no votes on that last option 0_o |

in spoken Japanese it isn't uncommon for it to be used the way I've used it though. But, in correct English I suppose I should say that AKB is appealing to those afflicted by the Lolita complex. This is hardly a disputed point among the majority of Japanese people. |
As much as I hate AKB48 (I think they're hot though)
Liking them doesn't mean you have a lolita complex. |

That's not lolita at all.... right.. ? (that's the sound of denial by the way ;) |
I don't know if there's any explanation for this (my friend and I could be totally wrong), but we were talking the other day about how many girls here walk around with their bangs over their faces and basically staring at the ground. And if they happen to be wearing a scarf, they often have it totally wrapped around their faces and then assume the staring at the ground with bangs over their faces as they walk, basically making it impossible to see their faces. Not every girl does this, but a significant enough amount to actually draw attention to myself and several people I know to notice it.
I'm basically wondering if this has anything to do with the objectification of girls here (in forms such as lolicon)? Do these girls do this "burqa" style to stop men from staring at them? Just something that's been on my mind and felt appropriate to post in this thread. |

And what does it mean to be childish? The sexual angst that is popular in the west is just as childish as the fake innocence that is popular in the East. |
