Traditional Japanese Song 1920s Please Help!

Hi guys,

I want to let my grandpa who knows Japanese to listen to some traditional Japanese music from his era (maybe 1920-1940s)? I dont know what the type of music is called so i was hoping someone can help me... And something cheerful not sad haha.

For example... What would a typical 90 year old Japanese gentleman listen to in his leisure time?

Edit: Oh i forgot, preferably with some lyrics and singing, and not just music, thanks!

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but this is a nice combination of traditional and new music:

and a few other traditional songs.:

without singing though. I don't know any real traditional songs with singing.
Edit:
Also, ofcourse, if you compare it with the 1920's this is rather new. But it's all I got.

Thanks! Well, i guess 1940s song would work too,, just anything that the older generation likes to hear, which i'm not familiar with.

Wow... how old is your grandfather? He would need to be about 100 years old to remember music from the 20s.

The only old Japanese music I know is Enka. I'm not sure what era it is from though. You can google it or look it up on youtube.

Tenkei's radio show last night made me remember I've got a bunch of old Japanese music so I thought I'd make a thread.
I put "1920's-1960's" but if anyone has anything older please post! Also there's so much stuff from the 70's/80's that they should probably have their own seperate thread but that shouldn't stop people posting it here, the dates don't really matter.

Unfortunately all these batches of songs are 32kbps/22khz/mono but don't let that put you off, it's probably comparable to listening to them on the old 78's. After I've posted these I have some albums at decent bitrates that I can post.
